What is operating system?
An operating system is system software that is used to manage computer hardware. software resources, and provides common service for computer organs. An operating system Middleware between user programs and system hardware and it manages hardware: CPU, main memory, IO devices (disk, network card, mouse, keyboard etc.)
What is mobile operating system?
Most of the people don’t attend stores directly soliciting for iOS, or android or windows people never ask the shopkeeper that they require this OS or that but indirectly its software which is attracting them.
A mobile software considered as backbone of mobile device as all of your favorite application and programs runs thanks to software system. It’s basically the system on the of which everything else sits just in case it is not already clear, mobile operating systems vary from device to device. Apple has its own system that they call iOS(iphone operating system). Samsung phones, as an example, use the Android software system, and even Windows gets into the action with their own phones and Windows OS. you’ll find a mobile package on many devices like mobile phones and tablets.

The Android mobile operating system is Google’s open and free software stack that includes an operating system, middleware and also key applications for use on mobile devices, including smartphones. Updates for the open source Android mobile operating systems has been developed under “dessert-inspired” version names ((Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich) with each new version arriving in alphabetical order with new enhancements and improvements.
2. BLACKBERRY OS (RESEARCH IN MOTION)
The BlackBerry OS is a proprietary mobile operating system developed by Research In Motion for use on the company s popular BlackBerry handheld devices. The BlackBerry platform is popular with corporate users as it offers synchronization with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise email and other business software, when used with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
3. IPHONE OS / IOS (APPLE)
Apple’s iPhone OS is originally developed for its use on its iPhone devices. Now, the mobile operating system is referred to as iOS and is supported on a number of Apple devices including the iPhone, iPad, iPad 2 and iPod Touch. The iOS mobile OS is available only on Apple’s own manufactured devices as the company does not license the OS for third-party hardware. Apple iOS is derived from Apple’s Mac OS X operating system.
4. WINDOWS MOBILE (WINDOWS PHONE)
Windows Mobile is Microsoft’s mobile operating system used in smartphones and mobile devices with or without touchscreens. The Mobile OS is based on the Windows CE 5.2 kernel. In 2010 Microsoft announced a new smartphone platform called Windows Phone 7.
Kernel in operating system: -
A kernel is a structure over which an operating system handles all the fundamental processes and resources which are required during the boot sequence. It involves communication with hardware and managing the resources of the machine.
During the booting of the Operating system, the kernel does a “system check” to inspect that all components attached/present on the system like GPU, Hard disk, Processor, Mouse, or Keyboard are working or not. This is the best place where the infamous “Keyboard not found, press F to continue” message used to appear. After inspection, the graphical UI appears and the OS is booted. Eventually, the kernel keeps on running in the background handling all the system resources.
